[ARCHIVED] Cahill Park Maintenance

Cahill 2

The Department of Public Works will perform scheduled maintenance at the Cahill basin February 10 to remove any vegetation growing close to the storm sewer grates as well as woody material that was not intentionally planted. This maintenance will assist in the functionality of the basin to keep the inlet and outlets clear of any debris and roots damaging the pipes. Only vegetation that could impede the operation of basin as originally designed will be removed. Future routine maintenance will focus on maintaining the existing footprint of the vegetation in the Cahill basin. This will ensure the area does not grow beyond the existing footprint and will allow the Cahill basin to operate as originally designed while preserving the existing vegetation area enjoyed by residents.

The storm water facility at Cahill Park was constructed to help alleviate flooding in the southwest part of the village in 2013. This feature helped mitigate damage most recently during the 1,000 year storm event in August 2025. When not in use for flood mitigation, the facility was designed to function as open green space during dry periods.

Cahill Park is located at 1001 E Fairmount Ave. in Whitefish Bay.  For more information, please contact Village Hall at 414-962-6690.
