The Village conducts routine cleaning and televising of the sanitary sewer system to help maintain and plan for necessary maintenance and repairs. As part of the program, DPW staff uses specialized equipment including a jetting truck with a pressurized water tank to clean sanitary pipes including tree roots and debris. Residents within the work area may notice minor interior plumbing sounds and disturbances that are common when conducting these routine cleanings. Residents may also experience a sewer smell within their house due to floor drains and plumbing traps that may drain during the cleaning. Homeowners can resolve this by flushing toilets and running water in floor drains and sinks to replenish the traps.
